The 2025-26 Budget: Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development

Mar 18, 2025 - Removing 30  Percent Cap on Individual Awards Reasonable. Current rules stipulate that an applicant may not receive more than 30  percent of the grant funding available in a fiscal year. Since the Governor ’s proposal would provide $60  million for grants, compared to $120  million in prior iterations, the cap on individual awards would be $18  million, down from $36  million.

The 2018-19 Budget: The Administration's Proposition 55 Estimates in the May Revision

May 22, 2018 - Proposition  55 (2016) extended tax rate increases on high ‑income earners from 2018 until 2030 (which voters originally passed on a temporary basis in 2012 as part of Proposition  30). Revenues raised by the measure benefit the General Fund.

Feb 15, 2022 - Governor’s Proposal Provides $6   Million for Extended Field Office Hours. The Governor ’s budget includes $6  million from the General Fund in 2022 ‑23 for DMV to fund overtime for 200 Licensing Registration Examiners, as well as the necessary office and support staff, so that field offices with wait times of 30 days or more for commercial drive tests can offer additional testing slots on Saturdays.
