Trends in CalWORKs: Participant Characteristics

Jun 16, 2025 - After beginning to increase in late 2021, caseload reached about 360,000 households at the end of 2023 ‑24 (an increase of about 25  percent relative to August 2021). Based on estimates from our office and the administration, caseload is likely to reach pre ‑pandemic levels in 2025 ‑26 or  2026 ‑27.
