The 2026-27 Budget: California Community Colleges

Mar 5, 2026 - As of fall 2024, districts employed about 66,100 full ‑time equivalent (FTE) employees systemwide —up about 400 FTE employees (0.6  percent) from fall 2019. Staffing has somewhat outpaced enrollment, which decreased by 0.3  percent during this period.

The 2026-27 Budget: Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education

Mar 25, 2026 - In 2025, BPPE incurred $10  million in costs associated with an employment lawsuit, consisting of a $4  million jury award to the plaintiff and $6  million in plaintiff ’s attorney fees. To cover these costs, DCA issued a $10  million loan to the BPPE Fund from the Bureau of Automotive Repair ’s High Polluter Repair or Removal Account in December 2025.

UC notes that the academic outcomes data available to basic needs staff varies by campus, which suggests these figures might be inconsistently reported and incomplete.

The 2025-26 Budget: Overview of the Governor's Budget
