The 2022-23 Budget: Analysis of the Governor’s Major Behavioral Health Proposals

Mar 3, 2022 - DSH appealed this ruling to the California Supreme Court, but the department ’s appeal was denied in 2021. DSH is now required to provide competency restoration treatment for felony ISTs according to a phased ‑in schedule of (1)  within 60 days by August 2022, (2)  within 45 days by February 2023, (3)  within 33 days by August 2023, and (4)  within 28 days by February 2024.
