Feb 19, 2025 - The  2021 ‑22 budget package required DOJ to provide a report by March  10, 2022 that identified various options —other than the General Fund —to support BFS annually. The budget package specifically directed DOJ to consider an option that would require sharing costs with local agencies that make use of BFS services based on the specific type of forensic services sought, the speed of the service, the size of the agency, and any other factors DOJ chooses to include.
