Feb 10, 2020 - In recent years, Caltrans —in collaboration with UC Berkeley —implemented two pilot programs to improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists. These pilot programs identified locations on the highway with high concentrations of pedestrian and bicyclist deaths and injuries based on historical data, investigated these locations to determine probable cause of the deaths and injuries, and recommended capital and maintenance projects to improve pedestria n and bicyclist safety.

Dec 21, 2018 - This effect is most clearly shown in Figure  11 , which displays how average fuel economy has increased over time in very close relationship to the federal standards. The U.S.  EPA and CARB estimate that under the current regulations, average GHG emissions will decrease to 175 grams per mile by 2025, which is less than one ‑third of the average emission levels in 1975.
