Mar 19, 2018 - These rate increases primarily entailed moving to more recent market surveys. The state still was using the 2005 market survey to set rates up to January 1, 2015. By January 1, 2018, the state had begun using the 2016 survey to set rates.

The 2026-27 Budget: Supplemental Security Income/State Supplementary Payment (SSI/SSP) Program

Mar 3, 2026 - DSS has recently compared maximum grant amounts for individuals and couples to county-level fair market rents (FMR). Specifically, at the county level, DSS compares the maximum SSI/SSP grant amount for individuals to the FMR of an efficiency unit (an apartment unit with no separately enclosed bedroom, similar to a studio apartment) and the maximum SSI/SSP grant amount for couples to the FMR of a one-bedroom unit.

The 2026-27 Budget: CalWORKs

Feb 18, 2026 - Grants Still Not Estimated to Meet Legislature ’s Goal for All Recipients. As part of the 2018-19 Budget Act , the Legislature set a goal to increase CalWORKs grants to 50  percent of the federal poverty level (FPL) for a family that is one person larger than the number of people in the family for which the grant amount is calculated.

The 2026-27 Budget: County Administration and H.R. 1 Implementation

Mar 5, 2026 - The value of lost eligibility and benefits to Medi ‑Cal and CalFresh enrollees is larger still. Addressing the structural budget problem will require difficult trade ‑offs. Backfilling lost federal benefits under H.R.  1 would require billions of dollars in additional budget solutions.
