CalSTRS Funding: An Update

May 5, 2017 - CalSTRS projects that the pension fund is still on track for full funding by the mid ‑2040s target date. To the extent that CalSTRS ’ funding situation continues to erode —either through worse ‑than ‑assumed investment performance or further changes in actuarial assumptions —the state will largely bear the responsibility for covering the resulting costs (assuming the current funding approach remains in place).
