COVID-19: American Rescue Plan’s Major Health-Related Funding Provisions

May 6, 2021 - The ARP Act provides $1.75  billion to strengthen and expand genomic sequencing activities, analytics, and disease surveillance to identify mutations and develop disease response. Thus far, the federal government has announced $1.7  billion in funding for these purposes, including an initial CDC allocation of $240  million to states and select local governments, which will be distributed in early May.

The spending plan includes $450,000 one time from the General Fund, available over two years, to support internal CDPH efforts as well as CDPH ’s leading role in the consortium.
