The 2024-25 California Spending Plan: Health

Sep 17, 2024 - (Chapter  12 of 2024 [SB  828, Durazo] later delayed the start by one month, to July 2024.) The wage increase is expected to increase state costs, particularly in the Medi-Cal program. This year ’s health trailer bill legislation makes a number of key changes to this law in light of the state ’s budget problem.

Feb 5, 2025 - Beginning in 2023 ‑24, the state was facing General Fund budget shortfalls. As  a part of addressing those budget problems, a portion of funding for BHCIP was delayed in 2023 ‑24. Later, in the 2024 ‑25 budget, program funding was reduced by $451  million General Fund, leaving $1.8  billion in funding remaining.

Feb 15, 2023 - Starting in 2011 ‑12, state law requires all RCs to annually publish data on the amount spent on services for consumers disaggregated by the race/ethnicity of these consumers. These data consistently have shown large disparities in the average amounts spent among these groups.
