The 2025-26 Budget: Scholarshare Investment Board

Apr 30, 2025 - The state created the CalKIDS program in the 2019-20 budget package. Under the program, SIB opens college savings accounts and makes deposits for eligible children (discussed in more detail below). The deposits are invested so they have the potential to grow over time.

Third Round of Federal Higher Education Relief Funding

May 3, 2021 - The American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act of 2021, signed by the President on March  11, 2021, provides $1.9  trillion for a broad array of efforts related to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This is the third piece of federal legislation that contains substantial COVID-19 relief funding for colleges and universities.

Update on Community College Reserves

Jan 27, 2021 - Of these districts, 11 had their unrestricted reserves grow by more than 10  percentage points over the year, whereas the remainder had smaller increases. Of the 25 districts that had declines in unrestricted reserves between June 2019 and June 2020, the vast majority had decreases of less than 10  percentage points.
