The 2025-26 Budget: Update on Implementation of New Firearm and Ammunition Tax

Feb 19, 2025 - Specifically, lowering the amounts provided to particular programs could increase the likelihood that more of the programs listed in Chapter  231 receive some level of funding. For example, the 2024-25 budget eliminated $9  million in General Fund support for CalVIP beginning in 2025-26 due to the anticipation of GVPSS Fund monies being available to support the program instead.

Having these standards and utilization reports would not only help guide decisions about the amount of classroom space needed but would also help assess the need for other rehabilitation space at a systemwide level and at particular prisons.

Feb 4, 2020 - Despite Population Reduction, CDCR Spending Increased Although the state ’s inmate and parolee populations have declined significantly in recent years, the level of spending on CDCR has increased. As shown in Figure  2 , expenditures increased by $3. 6  b illion ( 37  p ercent) —from about $9. 7  b illion in 2010 ‑ 11 t o an estimated $13. 3  b illion in 2019 ‑20.
