The 2025-26 Budget: California Student Aid Commission

Feb 28, 2025 - Most recently, in 2023 ‑24, CSAC received eight new permanent positions for these kinds of purposes. When the state has added new authorized positions, it has added associated funding. For example, in 2023‑24, the state augmented CSAC’s state operations budget $1.1 million for the additional positions, along with a few hundreds of thousands of dollars for other things (new high school toolkits and additional Cash for College efforts).

Nov 20, 2024 - State Suspended the Proposition   98 Guarantee in 2023 ‑24. The June 2024 budget plan suspended the guarantee in 2023 ‑24 and approved $98.5   billion in funding for schools and community colleges. Although our estimate of General Fund revenue is up compared with the previous estimate, changes in revenue do not directly affect funding when the guarantee is suspended.

Nov 7, 2024 - UC Merced Housed Nearly Half of Its Student Population in Fall 2023. In 2005, UC  Merced brought eight student housing facilities online, providing accommodations to a total of 874  students. By fall 2023, the campus had 18  housing facilities with a total of 4,367 beds, housing 45  percent of its student population.
